TGR readers have chosen the winners of
the third annual TGR (Tiger) Awards. Out of the Box's
hilarious party game Apples to Apples
captured the title in the American division, while Rio
Grande's Ra took home the prize in the European division.
Apples to Apples
has players quickly choosing people, places, and things
which they hope the current judge will believe best
embodies a particular adjective. The ensuing justifications
and juxtapositions are often hilarious, ther rules are
simple, and anywhere from four to ten players can share
the fun. If there is any justice, this game will go
on to make its creators a bundle of money. Its success
in the Tiger voting was hardly a surprise, as the game
has been a runaway hit with gamers
and non-gamers alike
. . . . Apples to Apples
absolutely blew away the competition, earning more than
triple the score of its nearest neighbor. There were
fewer "no award" votes this time out, as most
voters seemed to find something of interest in the American
division. It's worth noting that even with a voting
body comprised mostly of "gamers", a party
game bested all the American card and strategy games
in the voting.
