|
| For 2 Players. Ages 10+ |
| Object of the Game |
| |
To make a line composed of all FIVE of your own symbol
- horizontally, vertically or diagonally. |
 |
| To Start |
| |
1) The players each select a symbol to be their own,
and decide who will begin the game. |
| |
In the following diagrams the first player (Player 'A')
has chosen Circles, and the second player (Player 'B')
has chosen Triangles. |
 |
2) Remove the cubes from the board,
leaving 4 with neutral symbols - one in each corner
of the tray. |
| 3) Player 'A' creates a starting position
for Player 'B' by placing five cubes into the tray,
with player 'B's symbol uppermost. These cubes may
be placed in any of the positions that a cube may
occupy when the tray is full. |
 |
|
| |
To avoid giving the other player an advantage, Player
'A' avoids placing three or more symbols in the same row,
column or diagonal. Player 'B' should follow the same
advice in the next step. |
 |
4) Player 'B' now places four of
the first player ('A's) symbol in any free positions.
(Player 'A' gets 4 instead of 5 to negate the
advantage of the first move during play.)
Player 'B' has placed four Circles
for player 'A'. |
5) Fill in the rest of the positions
with neutral symbols.
Setup is complete; player 'A', with four symbols
showing, now begins.
Ready to play |
 |
|
| |
Alternative setup method:
A casual method of setting up, is to randomly fill the
tray, choose symbols, and then turn cubes one at a time
until both players agree that the position is reasonable
to start. |
| |
|
| The Play |
| |
Each player in turn places a spare cube, own symbol
uppermost, at the beginning of any row or column; frees
the end cube by lifting it from the board; then pushes
all the pieces in that line along one place. |
 |
NOTE: You MAY NOT push cubes with
your opponent's symbol showing OFF the board.
(i.e. Player 'A' may not push along a line that
has a triangle at the far end, but may, however,
push against a triangle, so moving it along -
yet still leaving it in play. |
|
| |
You may only push off neutral cubes, or cubes of your
own symbol. As the game progresses, you should have more
and more of your own cubes in play. |
| |
|
| To Win |
| |
The first player to make a line of FIVE
of their own symbol wins. |
| |
NOTE: Draws are possible - when a move makes
a row of five for both of the players simultaneously. |
 |
| |
Tactics |
| |
Gaining control of the corners stops your
opponent forming diagonal lines. Gaining control of each
end of a line stops your opponent from moving that line.
|
| |
It is usually a good tactic to get as many
of your own symbol into play as early as possible, rather
than trying for a quick win, unless an obvious position
presents itself. |
| |
|
| CAMBIO for 3 Players |
| |
Object of the game for 3 players - to make a consecutive
line of FOUR of your symbol. |
 |
| |
To Start - as for 2 players, except that each player
starts by placing FOUR of the next player's symbol. |
| |
The Play - as for 2 players. (However there are now
a further four winning diagonal lines available.) |
| |
