So here it is, the whole truth. I'll start at
the beginning.
My friend Jill liked the matte finish on the box.
(I'm telling you, we talked about everything!)
The instructions were good...not too hokey...nice
and concise. We liked that we could start playing
within minutes. And then we saw the divider card
and we all we're very impressed! That may be the
first time we've seen a divider card included.
Believe it or not, that made a big impression.
At first, there was some eye rolling at all the
pointing. Seriously, we all loved it two minutes
into playing. It was perfect and kind of brought
energy to the game.
Our major drawback: the die. It was hollow, so
it didn't have that satisfying weight nor roll.
Is that a big problem, of course not, but seriously
it was our only real complaint. (That, and that
the box didn't close flush when we packed it up.
It was impossible to lay everything out completely
flat.)
Another packaging plus, that the cards were wrapped
in blocks and not all together. We liked that.
On to the game...
It reminded of us a game we've played occasionally
called Loaded Questions. lronically, the last time
we played Loaded Questions, we agreed not to play
it anymore. It has similarities to your game, but
it's so much more personal and mean-spirited. Everyone
agreed that this game was much better because you
didn't feel vulnerable, nor did you feel you'd
be in the position to judge/attack your friends.
We laughed A LOT. It was the first game we played
of the night and it was the perfect kickoff because
it got us laughing, but it also made us talk a
lot between rounds...and talk about fun stuff that
the cards brought up. All in all, we thought it
was great fun. At times, I should say, we thought
the cards might be a bit too ambiguous. That worked
for us, because we're smart and thinking women,
but we also probably over thought them a bit. Here's
a card that we were actually left scratching our
heads over:
Pop Goes the Diet
Ten people will win soda for life at the San Anselmo
Soda Celebration
We didn't know what to do with this card. That
made us laugh, too, so it was funny, but shed some
light on it for us.
All in all, loved the concept, and absolutely
loved how it animated the group. Someone compared
it to summer music--light and easy for everyone,
but very catchy and for the right reasons. We enjoyed
it. We went around the table three times, so we
didn't play a long time, but it was a perfect kick
off. I begged people to give me honest critique
and I'm confident that we were all on the same
page. It was fun, made us laugh and think, bad
dice and all!
Look forward to reviewing many more games!! Thank
you, thank you, thank you for the great game!
